On September 10th-15th, TDOC Secretariat hosted the “2017 Taiwan e-Government and Smart City Workshop” in Taipei, Taiwan and invited 19 delegates from 5 different countries in the Southeast Asia.
The main topics of the workshop included e-government, smart transportation, smart education, and e-commerce. In addition, the participants joined the “2017 World Congress on Information Technology” and the gala dinner during the first 3 days. First held in 1978 by WITSA (World Information Technology & Services Alliance), the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) has become the premier international IT forum.
On the site-visiting day, the delegation learnt several Taiwan’s e-government and smart city solutions, including visiting one of the global leaders in industrial automation, Advantech Corp., Taipei City Traffic Information Center, and Living Lab at Smart City.
The delegates also experienced the convenience of the bike sharing system-Ubike, which was developed as short-distance transit vehicles to reduce and replace personal possession and use of motor vehicles, where the traffic congestion, environmental pollution and energy loss in the city will be improved.
Furthermore, Syntrend Creative Park and Guang Hua Digital Plaza are also a must-visit for the visitors to do shopping and to try out the latest consumer electronics.
Overall, the “2017 Taiwan e-Government and Smart City Workshop” gained very positive reviews from the participants, and they not only want TDOC to conduct similar ICT workshop in their countries, but also plan to bring their family to visit Taiwan soon!
