“2017 e-Commerce Workshop ” in Laos and Cambodia
TDOC Secretariat co-hosted “2017 e-Commerce Workshop” with Laos ICT Commerce Association (LICA) in Vientiane on May 23rd and with ICT Federation of Cambodia (ICTF) in Phnom Penh on May 25th to share the experiences in the development of Laos’, Cambodia’s, and Taiwan’s e-Commerce.
Led by Dr. Warren Chen, Chief Technology Officer of Institute for Information Industry, the 5 Taiwan speakers introduced the Taiwan e-Commerce eco-system, Big Data Applications in e-Commerce, mobile payment, ICT-Enabled SMEs, online marketing, and website optimization. There was also a business matchmaking event held in Cambodia, where 5 Taiwanese companies, including Acton Technology Corporation, IDEAS of III, International Integrated Systems, Inc., Onward Security, and xBeacon Co., attended the event.
Both workshops were highly appreciated by the government officials and ICT related companies in Laos and Cambodia. To promote additional collaboration, TDOC Secretariat, LICA, and ICTF agreed to co-host more ICT workshops in the near future. Furthermore, it was suggested that Taiwan and the local business partners can cooperate to train the youth to solve the local IT talent shortage as well as to create more business opportunities for Taiwan.
TDOC’s Continuous Support
ADOC and SCTM have started its partnership in operating an ADOC 2.0 Computer Center since 2009. In the morning of May 16th 2017, Sonadezi College of Technology and Management (SCTM) received 21 computers donated by ASUS, who was introduced to SCTM by TDOC Secretariat. John Chang, First Secretary and Secretary of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City, which was also witnessed by the 3 ASUS representatives who attended the ceremony.
“Since the beginning of the cooperation with ADOC, the school has conducted many intensive ICT courses. The courses successfully update new knowledge in the field of information technology not only for the students, but also for workers in the nearby industrial parks, employees of small and medium enterprises, lecturers of colleges and universities in the area of the province.” said the rector of SCTM, Mr. Luu Phuoc Dung, at the donation ceremony. Over 1,000 people have benefitted through these courses.
The TDOC Secretariat funded "Advanced Microsoft Office training course” organized by SCTM was then carried out for MIS engineers from different companies in the industrial zone after the donation ceremony. Mr. Terry Lin, TDOC Secretariat, also shared the experiences in using mobile commerce platform to boost e-commerce business.
The ADOC Club in Vietnam 2017 was then held and hosted by the rector of SCTM, Mr. Luu Phuoc Dung, who thanked TDOC again for the support and looked forward to having more international collaboration with TDOC in the future.
WCIT 2017 in Taiwan
The 21st World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) is taking place on 10th – 13th September 2017 in Taipei, Taiwan.
